Captain Eric Vargas is renowned for his mastery in both big game tuna fishing and inshore striped bass pursuits, earning a reputation as one of the region’s premier captains. His skills were on full display in 2025 when he and his crew claimed victory at the world’s largest bluefin tuna tournament—the Bluefin Blowout in Gloucester, MA—landing a massive 728-pound giant to secure first place.
Beyond his big game achievements, Eric is equally adept with light tackle spin and fly fishing, offering anglers a wide range of thrilling on-the-water experiences. Whether you’re battling a colossal tuna offshore or casting for stripers on lighter gear, Captain Eric delivers the expertise, precision, and excitement to make every trip unforgettable.

What you need to know
What's Included:
Everything except food and beverage. Captain Eric will include bait, rods, and reels — but you’re welcome to bring your own gear. You do not need a fishing license as you are covered under my charter boat’s fishing license.
What can you catch?
Inshore: Striped Bass, Bluefish, Flounder, Mackerel.
Offshore: Bluefin Tuna, Thresher Shark, Blue Shark, Porbeagle Shark, Mako Shark, Haddock, Cod, Various Ground Fish.
What can you see?
Whales: Humpback, Minke, Wright
Sharks: Basking, Great White
Other: Sea Turtles, Atlantic Porpoises, Dolphins, Seals, Sun Fish (Mola mola)
What should I bring?
Suggestions – sweatshirt, rain gear, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, camera, food, beverage, a cooler.
Pricing:
Charters are priced for the entire trip, not per person.
Crew Gratuity:
Crews work extremely hard for tips and they are appreciated and earned. A 20% tip is customary on top of the cost of the trip for hard work and good service.
Parking:
Free street parking on the weekend is availble in Charlestown. There is a parking lot next to the marina that charges an hourly rate.
Alcohol / Drug Policy:
Customers are welcome to bring beer and wine. Drugs are strictly prohibited.
Cancelation Policy:
Your deposit is completely refundable until 30 days prior to the Charter Date. After 30 days prior, it is NON-REFUNDABLE, subject to circumstances.
If the weather is bad, the charter will be rescheduled. If not able to reschedule the Captain will offer a refund.
